PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Data Analyst I/II to join our scientific team working with the Imaging Mass Cytometry laboratory (IMC) laboratory funded by the NCI’s Center for Strategic Scientific Initiatives (CSSI) at FNLCR. Our team works with several intramural and extramural research groups that are interested in employing IMC in their projects. In the IMC technology, we stain the fresh-frozen and FFPE tissue slides from the mice models and clinical specimens with up to 40 different metal-labeled antibodies and laser ablate these slides to achieve high-dimensional imaging data at subcellular resolution. A desired candidate will work under the supervision of our Data Scientist in analyzing high dimensional imaging data using currently available statistical tools as well help him in establishing the new pipelines using Python, and/ or R-Programming and MATLAB.
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Data curation, management, archiving, and distribution using various cloud-based platforms.
Utilizing, maintaining, and improving a multiplex image analysis pipeline.
Regular communicating/presenting data analysis results, pipeline details, and related ongoing research in the field during internal and external meetings.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Possession of Bachelor’s degree Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
Data Analyst I - No work experience required with a Bachelor's degree.
Data Analyst II - In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
Experience with common data analysis and visualization programming languages such as python and/or R.
Familiarity with common microscopy and/or multiplex imaging data analysis techniques.
Experience with image manipulation and visualization programs, such as ImageJ, CellProfiler, and/or Ilastik.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
MS or PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
Ability to incorporate published image analysis pipelines into current or developing workflows.
Experience with image classification using machine learning and convolution neural networks.
