CyTOF for extracellular vesicles

Hi,

I would like to inquire if CyTOF technology has been used for the characterization of extracellular vesicles (EVs). If so, how can we effectively distinguish the EV population from debris? In the case of cells, we typically use an intercalator that binds to DNA for identification. Is there an alternative approach for distinguishing EVs?

Hi Devanjan,

A few people have done exosomes (or exosome-like), but like any kind of exosome or similar "particle", a lot can depend on the source of them (and therefore the content). And, total metal content is really important, to make sure they're detected properly (which was also the case for the organelle work at UMN: http://dx.doi.org/10.1021/acs.analchem.8b02790)
