Lanthanide Supplier in US

Hi everyone,

We are looking to order some Terbium (III) Chloride, Praseodymium (III) Chloride, and Lutetium (III) Chloride, independent of the MaxPar antibody labeling kit, which we are not looking to use in that particular experiment. Would any of you have the experience of ordering lanthanides without going through Fluidigm? If you do, could you please suggest a supplier?

Thank you,

Florence

Hi Florence,

All these chloride salts are available from Sigma. Note that Terbium and Praeseodymium are effectively monoisotopic, but Lutetium has a minor 176Lu isotope.

Re: Lanthanide Supplier in US

Hi Florence,

You can buy high-purity salts for the naturally monoisotopic lanthanides from Sigma-Aldrich. You want the "trace metals basis" purity level, which is 99.9+% pure of other metals.

89-YCl3: #204919
141-PrCl3: #205141
159-TbCl3: #212903
165-HoCl3: #289213
169-TmCl3: #204668

You can also buy the almost-monoisotopic salts below:
115*-InCl3: #203440 (4.29% 113In)
139*-LaCl3 #203521 (0.09% 138Ln)
175*-LuCl3: #298131 (2.59% 176Lu)

Buy as small an amount as possible (I think 1g is the smallest for several of them): ~200mg is enough to make ~10 *milliliters* of 50mM salt.

You can dissolve them in L-buffer, or in MIlliQ water slightly acidified (I think I used 100uL of 3% HNO3 per 10 mL MilliQ); the salts are generally more stable under acidic conditions.
