Re: background

Hello,

Are there any updates to add to this thread regarding a brand of BSA known to have less mischmetal, or lower metal-contaminants in general? It seems this would be important being there is no solution to easily removing the mischmetal.

Re: background

Hi Matt,

I've been using Sigma A7284 BSA 30% in 0.85% NaCl for years now at the HIMC and haven't seen any issue with it.

I typically buy the 50mL volume and immediately make 1.5mL single-use aliquots (enough for 500mL of my staining buffer) at a time.

Re: background

Just an update for everyone that we recently tested Sigma A7979 35% BSA solution and found super high levels of various metals, particularly Tb159.

We normally use Sigma A1933 powder and haven't had any issues with that. It's from New Zealand, so perhaps the New Zealanders take a bit more care in feeding their cows lanthanides.
