Associate Research Scientist - CyTOF

The Human Immune Monitoring Core at Columbia University Irving Medical Center offers cutting-edge single-cell services, including multi-modal single-cell genomics, multiplexed tissue imaging and mass cytometry (CyTOF) for translational and clinical research studies for a diverse scientific and clinical research community. We seek to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to oversee the CyTOF arm of the HIMC. The HIMC brings together the top talent across Columbia University’s leading research programs and departments to build a community of scientists dedicated to solving cancer. Candidates should have outstanding scientific credentials. The successful candidate will be able to work and thrive at the interface between laboratory science and computational biology. Collaborative studies and grant applications are possible for motivated individuals.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Operation, maintenance and use of the CyTOF Helios system
• Build and optimize mass cytometry antibody panels, conjugation and QC of mass cytometry reagents
• Consult with users regarding potential mass cytometry projects which may include guiding experimental set-up and procedure optimization, panel design, and
data analysis consultation
• Maintain a detailed, up-to-date, and accurate record of samples, reagents, and instrument QC.
• Maintain and organize the inventory. Prepare service bills.
• Assist in the development of new assays, methods, and reagents.
• Other related activities

Minimum Qualifications
• Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree or a Masters in biological sciences, engineering or related fields with at least four at least two years
research experience
• Experience with CyTOF
• Excellent communication and writing skills and ability to work as a member of a team.
• Strong experimental and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience in efficiently overseeing technical staff.
• Experience in staff recruitment and training.
• Work independently and collaborate with leadership to implement novel concepts, methods, and broad impact of the core

Preferred Qualifications
Strong project management skills and demonstrated mentoring skills with students and postdocs.

Commitment
Must be able to commit for a minimum of two years.
