Senior Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology @ Merck Boston

Hi All,
Just wanted to share a new opening in my group at the Merck Boston site in the Department of Quantitative Biosciences. While this job will be primarily focused on In Vivo Pharmacology, downstream analyses will incorporate techniques like CyTOF, so experience there is very beneficial.

Job Description

The In Vivo Pharmacology – Oncology group within the Department of Quantitative Biosciences is seeking a Senior Scientist with expertise in preclinical in vivo pharmacology to join our Boston-based Exploratory Discovery team. The successful candidate will have a track record of innovative and collaborative research, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications. The successful candidate will be able to work independently but will also be expected to proactively collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines. The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will perform experiments using preclinical models to evaluate the in vivo efficacy, tolerability and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic activity of novel compounds. Primary responsibilities will include contributing to experimental design and developing detailed in vivo work plan/experimental protocols; executing in vivo studies to research tolerability and efficacy of novel agents; entering data, analysis, and interpretation into appropriate notebooks and/or databases. The candidate will be an active participant in the positive and critical scientific dialogue that is necessary to progress our oncology drug discovery programs. An ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues in the pharmacology group as well as scientists from different disciplines will be essential.

Responsibilities

Assessing efficacy, tolerability and mechanism of action of oncology and immune-oncology drug candidates using preclinical rodent models.

Analyzing samples collected in preclinical in vivo studies to identify biomarkers in blood, tumors, and surrogate tissues using molecular methods including but not limited to immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), flow or mass cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, or western blotting.

Contribute to the characterization and validation of novel compounds and/or therapeutic antibodies.

Communicate and present data clearly and concisely to the appropriate teams and stakeholders.
