We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has a strong desire to learn exciting state-of-the art technology and enjoys being “hands on” with high-end instrumentation and working in a team of translational immunologists to support the team of the mass cytometry and imaging facility at the University Medical Center Freiburg. The facility has a technical head and is integrated into the Bengsch lab and the TEXIMMED-FR (Translational EXperimental IMmunology lab MED II, University Hospital Freiburg) laboratory groups at the Department of Internal Medicine II. The candidate will be responsible for the operation of the CyTOF Helios mass cytometer and the Hyperion system for mass imaging applications.

The CyTOF facility is embedded in a research environment with many translationally oriented groups with an immunology focus in Freiburg. Currently, we are heavily involved in translational research in liver and intestinal immunology and immunooncology but also many collaboration projects with other scientific groups in and outside Freiburg, including several projects gaining insight into the COVID19 pandemic. A major focus will be on the immune profiling of PBMC and tissue samples (e.g., patients with acute or chronic viral infection, autoimmunity, cancer).
