Flow technician position open

The University of Maryland – Baltimore; Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (UMB CVD-GH) Flow & Mass Cytometry Core is looking for a Flow Cytometry technician to join our team as a Research Specialist.

The UMB CVD-GH is involved in cutting edge vaccine research involving clinical trials of new vaccine candidates, natural infection and challenge of volunteers with wild-type organisms, including covid-19, malaria, influenza, and various intestinal pathogens.

The successful candidate would help with running the Core instruments, i.e., two Fluidigm Helios mass cytometers, a Beckman Coulter Astrios cell sorter and a BD LSR II flow cytometer, as well as daily instrument calibration, data backup, instrument troubleshooting, interaction with users and service engineers, developing SOPs as needed, and other laboratory duties.

A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field and 3-5 years of flow cytometry experience is required. Experience with flow cytometry data analysis, cell sorting, and panel development is requested. Training on the specific instruments in the core will be given, but general flow cytometry experience, especially with sorting, is preferred.
